The Douro Region is renowned for its production of Port and table wine, as well as for the wineries where they are produced. Quinta da Roêda, Croft’s famous vineyards, are located in Pinhão, only 1.5kms from the hotel (just a short walk away or 5 minutes by car). This stunning wine estate is open for visits and tastings. During the harvest season, visitors can participate in treading the grapes in the ‘lagares’, or stone tanks.
In Valença, also in the Douro Valley, just 7km from the Vintage House hotel, is Quinta do Panascal. Open to the public since 1992, this was one of the first vineyard estates to open in the region. Both these wineries belong to the same owners as The Vintage House, and we also suggest visiting a host of other wineries in the surrounding area.
